11 Digital Marketing Tactics To Supercharge Your Business

November 10th, 2020

The bad news, is you’re going to have to get your hands dirty. The good news is that you can get started immediately with this list of 10 tried-and-true growth hacking tactics.

Some of the tactics are simple enough for absolute beginners. Others will require you to do your homework.

Either way, you’ll be rewarded with a new perspective on your business.

1. Use lightweight keyword research to find more high-intent keywords.

Marketers often look for exact matches (e.g. “buy running shoes”) when doing keyword research. But you can get more traffic by looking for high-intent keywords.

For example, “walking shoes” is probably a higher-intent keyword than “running shoes.” If you’re a fitness start-up, you might want to use “walking shoes” instead of “running shoes.”

To look for high-intent keywords, use the Ubersuggest keyword tool. It’s much easier to use than the Google Keyword Planner.

2. Turn blog comments into high-converting opt-in forms.

Blog comments are a great opportunity to connect with your readers. But they’re not a great opportunity to collect leads.

You can use a tool like Thrive Content Builder to create an opt-in form for your blog comments. After people sign up for your email list, you can follow up with them through a series of emails.

3. Offer an exclusive deal to people who sign up for your email list.

One of the most common questions I get from readers is, “How do I offer an exclusive deal to my email subscribers?” This is actually one of the easiest tactics to implement.

All you have to do is create a discount code and make it available only to your email subscribers.

4. Use your homepage to get more Facebook likes.

Have you noticed that many marketers place a Facebook Like Box or Share Box on their website homepage?

There’s a reason for that: those landing pages are powerful. The typical Facebook fan page gets 2.8 times more traffic than the typical website.

5. Offer visitors something valuable for free.

If you’re offering a free ebook, checklist, or other resource, you should put a form on your website sidebar to capture the emails of visitors who download your free resource.

This is a great way to build your email list and use it to sell your other products.

6. Use reciprocity to increase social shares.

The principle of reciprocity says that people will feel obligated to return a favor. It’s the reason why you’d spend $100 telling someone they need to be a better parent, and then spend $3,000 to “train” them.

Would you be willing to invite a few friends to check out your website, if you’re given the opportunity to invite your friends to check out your own website? I would.

I’ve used this exact phrasing: “Share this content and get more content just like it” to encourage the people who visit my website to share my content with their network:

7. Use a free ebook to get more email subscribers.

If you’re giving away an ebook, you can use it as a lead magnet to get more email subscribers.

For example, imagine you’re offering an ebook about social media marketing. You can craft a unique ebook landing page, which offers a free download of your book.

8. Offer 3-day free trials to get email subscribers.

This is similar to offering a free ebook.

9. Use a two-step opt-in form to get more email subscribers.

It’s no longer necessary to squeeze as many email addresses into a single opt-in form.

If you’re getting a low conversion rate on your website, try a two-step opt-in process.

This will give you the opportunity to collect more email addresses. Here’s an example of a two-step opt-in process:

You can also split up your opt-in form into multiple forms.

10. Give away a physical product instead of an ebook.

Sometimes it makes sense to give away a physical product rather than a digital one. This comes down to the nature of what you're selling and if you cna come up with a low cost item to ship to customers. See if this applies to you and your product.

11. Use a professional design agency

Professional designers can provide a lot of insight into what works and what doesn’t and what you should or shouldn’t do. A good designer can make sure your product design captures the essence of your brand and looks clean and sharp.

Check out our affiliate agencies. They provide you with a professional designer at a very reasonable price.
